Zadock Bosworth served as a Private in the Massachusetts forces during the American Revolutionary War.

He also served in the Third Connecticut Regiment of militia during the French and Indian War, specifically in August 1757 during the alarm for the relief of Fort William Henry. Fort William Henry, located in present-day New York, was under siege by French forces and Native allies in August 1757. The alarm prompted Connecticut to send militia reinforcements. Zadock’s service in this campaign places him among the colonial defenders during one of the most dramatic episodes of the war, which culminated in the fort’s surrender and the infamous massacre of British troops and civilians.
